Growing up in Norway, we played a drawing game called ”Fortsettelses-tegning”, [fort-set-tels-teg-ning], which is directly translated into ”Continuation-Drawing”. Four children would get together and divide a large sheet of paper into four horizontal parts. Each child would take turn drawing a body part on their given space and then fold the paper over, hiding what they had just drawn. The first child would draw a head, the next a face and so on. Unfolding the paper had us all laughing out loud.
Being inspired by this game and the diversity of The Bay Area, I scanned several of my drawings and paintings and combined them. The idea is that even though we all come from different backgrounds and places, we all fit nicely together, just like a colorful work of art.
