Artist's Statement
“Sick and Tired” is the Proclamation of the series “In Danger Species.” This piece is a visual juxtapositon of the 1960’s civil rights movement to now. The summary of images showing how the civil rights movement in its beginning stages had the energy of reaching a victory in the near future. However, the juxtaposition is seeing what took place via photographs then and seeing those same images and events unfolding now. Due to many countless lives taken because of the personification of how people of color are portrayed in this country, the struggle is still tirelessly fought and seems it will never change. The epitome of American’s original sin and the lid finally taken off for an eruption of the battle cry. A nation now being joined by the world coming together to say we are all “Sick and Tired!”
