Artist's Statement
For over a decade I have explored gender identity in my work. My interest in the determinants of gender is rooted in feminism and began when I was an undergraduate psychology major.
This is a series of watercolor sketches of vintage trans females created on small accordion files that are mounted and framed. The reference material for these works was editorial photography from the midcentury. I chose this period because of its gender-specific dress code.
