Artist's Statement
Pork With Juices is from a series of paintings in which I reference my photography to create compositions that tell a personal story. A harmony exists between the images without there being any clear evidence of a narrative to the viewer. My inspiration came from a photo I took of an abandoned can on the sidewalk during a heatwave, labeled “pork with juices.” This painting was made during a time when I was having dreams of my teeth falling out, the rest of the painting fell into place with objects I’ve come across that have made me feel on edge.
