Artist's Statement
When I started painting this piece, the pandemic was already serious. After months of staying at home and not having a normal conversation with anyone, I realized that I have not seen my family for such a long time and there was nothing concerns me more than their health and safety. I used a photo of my sister as the reference when I was painting. Remembering the trip we took that summer, I feel relieved. No big words, no ambitions this time. I suppose in this work I want to simply address the power of our family and loved ones, start to value them, especially in this pandemic.
