Artist's Statement
The American Bald Eagle is the emblem of the United States of America, because of its long life, great strength and majestic looks. It represents freedom and that was my original inspiration while ordered to Shelter in Place. During this time our son was diagnosed with COVID-19 and we were terrified of what might happen to him and everyone around him. Disturbed by this moment of time by the worldwide impact of this virus and the catastrophic devastation to lives, economy and to our own family, this painting now had become my tale to record. On the sea wall I painted graffiti with symbolic and historic meaning and a map of the world. I painted notch marks for each day I worked at home until I finished this piece. Our son recovered and no-one else in our family were sickened but the emotional impact was immense. This war we are all in together is silent and invisible. My greatest hope that one day soon we can all be free once again to build a great nation of strength and unity without putting lives at risk.
