Utilizing Paiute shawl-making through the materiality of fringe, this rendered painting depicts freshman congresswoman of New Mexico Deb Haaland. The traditional shawl is worn on the back, and conveys elegance through the dance, while this piece is meant to engage with the view through "the gaze".
