Artist's Statement
This painting was conceived when I was considering the concept of idealized beauty. Specifically as perceived among the observations of women.
The central figure is portrayed as the premium of beauty, reflecting on her own intentions, and the other two figures are discussing this reality.
As a self-taught artist, I prefer to add layers of meaning among the applications of paint.
Colors and their vibrations carry many instructions; it is necessary to convey these ideas and thoughts.
The gray grid background offers a containment for reflection.
Particular attention to the details of the hand bag, hair decoration, and most essentially the shoes, make this painting a vehicle for time and space. It travels through the ages to land on whichever era is most slowly absorbed by the viewer.
A timelessness pervades.
Fashion and decades cycle backwards and forwards, as does beauty and the idealization of the female form.
