Artist's Statement
“It’s About Time” is a conceptualized self-portrait comprised of all the song titles in my music library with the word “time”. I have spent a lot of “time” listening to these songs, which have been woven through my life. Each song is, in essence, a “time” capsule, carrying very personal, emotional, and historical associations for me.
Music is a big influence on my work. I am fascinated with the spatial, temporal, and structural components of music. By weaving together layers of paint, collage, words, and patterns, I create a dense network that aims to capture the structure and movement of music.
“It’s About Time” is made with acrylic paint, paper collage, water crayons, and ink on 156lb Arches watercolor paper. Handsomely framed with archival materials and protected by UV resistant plexiglass, “It’s About Time” is ready to hang and will make a stunning addition to your art collection!
