Artist's Statement
Inspired by James, a San Francisco native, in the moment he peers out of a window to discover the gutted Mission lot that was once his high school. Watching the cranes and bulldozers at work, James stands piecing together from memory his old urban landscape, now nonexistent. Another chapter of his life upturned and made unrecognizable, reassembled for others as he looks on, now as an outsider struggling to re establish roots across the bay.
