Artist's Statement
I am exploring the influence of community and how one becomes a reflection of their surroundings and who they are closest in relations to. In developing these Ideas, I pay homage to my loved ones who have passed. The distorted faces are created through an instinctual and sporadic technique that combines distinct elements of individuals in order to make up a single figurative portrait. It is important for me to add symbolic elements such as, spiders, clouds, webs, doors, and windows to merge my relationship with my living community to the continuation of love for and from the dead.
